About Claydon Jewelers
Our Story
In 1980, Cliff Claydon moved from New York to California to study gemology at GIA in Santa Monica. He hadn’t set out to open a jewelry store—“it happened accidentally,” as he likes to say. But after falling in love with the craft, Cliff made a call that would change everything.
On the other end of the line was his high school sweetheart and soon-to-be wife, Austin, who was building a career in Washington, D.C. Cliff told her about this dream—about starting something of their own—and within a few months, Austin left her job, packed up her life, and moved across the country to join him.
What began as a dream grew into something far greater; that leap of faith became Claydon Jewelers: a small atelier in Redondo Beach that would grow into a generational legacy of craftsmanship, creativity, and care.
Over 45 years later, the business is still family-run—now alongside their children, Maggie and Clark—serving clients who often become part of the family themselves.
Our Values
Craftsmanship. Creativity. Collaboration. Legacy.
We believe fine jewelry should do more than sparkle. It should carry meaning, tell a story, and last for generations.
Whether we’re designing a custom engagement ring, restoring a beloved heirloom, or resizing a well-worn band, we treat every piece with reverence. No job is “small” to us, because we know what it represents.
At Claydon, we blend old-world techniques with modern artistry, and we never compromise on quality or care. It’s not just what we do—it’s who we are.
Our clients don’t just buy jewelry.
They become part of our story.
